The Duet That Almost Didn’t Happen
Thursday, December 21st, 2006

I’m sure it will come as no surprise when I tell you all that one of my favorite Christmas songs is “Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy.”  However, this morning I found out for the first time that it almost didn’t happen due to musical differences.  And I thought I knew the Bowie biography like the back of my hand.  Guess you learn something new every day.  The Washington Post has the entire scoop.  (After a few days you may have to sign in to view this article, but better you do that than me pay for the rights to republish.  Unless of course someone wants to be our benefactor.)  For those of you who have not ever seen the whole video, YouTube has it.

Bowie Gets In ‘Control’
Monday, September 18th, 2006

According to NME, the soundtrack to the movie ‘Control’ about the life of former Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis will feature an all-star line up of glam rock’s finest. Bowie, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed and Roxy Music are all set to provide tracks, with New Order writing the film score. The album will also include original songs by Joy Division and Warsaw, as they were first known. Control began filming in July with Anton Corbijn directing and Sam Riley, lead singer of indie band 10,000 Things, playing the role of Curtis.

Still from The Prestige

The trailer for The Prestige is finally out. You can view it in various formats and sizes over at the Apple.com site. Juding solely by the trailer, the movie looks pretty fun. Then again, you can’t go wrong when you’ve got Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Michael Caine, and David Bowie all in one movie. The Prestige is due out on October 20, 2006.
