A friend on the illustrious Love and Rockets forum Torched posted a link to the newest ad for Campari. My exact response to the ad was, “Boys Keep Swinging, anyone?” The climactic moment of the ad shows the ‘girl’ removing her lipstick with a swipe of her arm, a la Bowie in the video for Boys Keep Swinging. The Campari ad is a very striking one and well done.
I know this is a little late in coming, but according to variety.com and Inside Entertainment Stuart Oken will be producing the upcoming Broadway musical of Bruce Lee’s life. He has commissioned Matthew Warcus to direct the show and David Henry Hwang to write the script. Here’s where it gets wierd though – there are rumors that Bowie will be writing the music for the show. Wait, what? I find myself wondering how Oken decided that Bowie of all people would be perfect to write the score for a musical biography of Brice Lee. Because when I think about Bruce Lee, I certainly don’t think of him living his life to a musical backdrop of Bowie. So far, this is just a rumor. Bowienet has neither confirmed not denied this rumor (see News for March 21).
David and Iman attended the Tribeca Film Festival Vanity Fair party on April 26th. See today’s Bowienet news for a cracking photograph of them in all their glamour. Normally I wouldn’t link to a Bowienet blurb since there’s not much information in them, but it was the only article I could find with a decent picture and without snarky comments about his weight. Grrrrr. Anyway, I want Iman’s dress and Bowie’s suit. Impeccable taste and style, as always. View a smattering of photo thumbnails at Wire Image.
Posted in News | Comments Off on Tribeca Film FestivalMassive Attack is in the studio working on an album slated for release in 2007. According to Scripps Howard News Service, the band is hoping to colloborate with Bowie for this upcoming release. The last colloboration between Bowie and Massive Attack was for the remix of Nature Boy on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Hopefully, Bowie and his management will agree to the collaboration. Any new song featuring Bowie’s legendary vocals and Massive Attack’s killer beats will be a treat for mutual fans.

And he managed to do it without using the word “chameleon.” He pretty much says it all, so I’ll shut up and just give you the link: R. Paul Matthews’ review of Serious Moonlight.
Posted in More To Own | Comments Off on Excellent review…and not one mention of the c-wordMan, you gotta love the tabloids. The title to the article Iman forces David Bowie to change diet after heart attack tries to whip up scandal where there is none. At first the reader might think, “Oh, that horrible Iman!” But if you actually read the article, she’s just making sure that one of rock’s living legends lives long enough to add another 40 years to his career. With fruits and veggies replacing fried food and gym trips replacing runs to the store for cigarettes, he just must give us a few more masterpeices.
