Since I have a love of gossip and I feel like any Bowie gossip or rumors should be addressed as such, I created a category to catch all of the gossip and rumors that fly around the intertubes about David Bowie.  The new category is Rumors, Lies, Stories They Made Up.  Now you won’t have to sift through our massive news category when you feel like reading a bit of gossip.

Buddha of Suburbia To Be Remastered
Saturday, July 28th, 2007

On October 2, Capital/EMI will reissue one of the Webmaster’s and my favorite David Bowie records – Buddha of Suburbia. David Bowie says about the album and recording it, “This album may well have been one of the most enjoyable projects that I have been involved with. My personal memory stock for this album was made up from an almighty plethora of influences and reminiscences from the 1970s.” The album often gets pigeon-holed as merely the soundtrack to the BBC miniseries adaption of Hanif Kureishi’s semi-autobiographical book, but it is a work of art in it’s own right. Follow the link to Earthtimes to read the rest of Bowie’s reminiscence.

Apparently we Bowie fans keep strange company.  Which one of you is up for sitting around with a 1980’s Karl Rove, lounging in track suits, nuking microwave dinners, and listening to David Bowie records?  Hell yeah, I know I am.

American Idol Jeans
Monday, July 23rd, 2007

The Fox network’s ratings juggernaut American Idol has entered into a partnership with Lyric Jeans to release a clothing line inspired by and featuring lyrics from influential musicians.  Musicians whose lyrics will appear on the clothing include David Bowie, Janis Joplin, Marvin Gaye, and The Beatles.  Honestly, I don’t know whether I should rejoice or burst into tears.  I think the clothing line itself is a great idea, but I think American Idol represents so many things wrong with music and pop culture today.  Such a dilemma…

Giorgio Armani and The Thin White Duke
Saturday, July 7th, 2007

Giorgio Armani joins the club of designers who have taken inspiration from David Bowie in his Thin White Duke era.  In a change from his usual fare of subdued hues and cuts, his latest collection featured models stomping down the runway in skinny-tailored clothes and fedoras angled to the side, lit from above to look as pallid as possible.  Style.com has a review of the show along with photos of the complete collection and detail shots.
