Lucky water fowl living on the other side of the pond may enjoy a special David Bowie compilation CD today, free with purchase of this week’s Mail on Sunday magazine. The iSelect Bowie CD features 12 Bowie tracks, hand-picked by Sailor himself and complimented by an interesting backstory on each of the songs. We unlucky fowl over on this side of the pond can read the online edition on dailymail.co.uk.
Ten of the tracks are straight off the studio albums. Track 12 is the live version of Hang On To Yourself from Santa Monica ’72 to promote the official release of that live album tomorrow. Track 11 is a brand new mix of Time Will Crawl. Bowie writes:
I’ve replaced the drum machine with true drums and added some crickety strings and remixed. I’m very fond of this new version with its Neil Young of Shortlands accents. Oh, to redo the rest of that album.
Leading up to this compilation CD, Last Sunday’s Mail on Sunday Live magazine also included a collection of previously unpublished portraits from Bowie’s personal archive. If you aren’t able to get your filthy American hands on it, you can, again, suffer the flimsy online edition.
I’m going to go dump some tea in the harbor.
