Update #3: It is official. The War Child album to which David Bowie is contributing his song “Heroes” to be covered by TV On The Radio will be postponed until 2009 due to more artists showing interest. Maybe we’ll get a double disc? *hopes*
Posted in More To Own, News | Comments Off on More War Child Album UpdatesAccording to a couple different news sources, David Bowie, along with Elton John and Mick Jagger, lost $2 million worth of memorabilia in a fire at the Iron Mountain warehouse in London. Reportedly the items that Bowie lost were some legal papers from his early days. However, as I’ve bitched on here before, you can’t believe every Bowie news item you read. It’s a “bunch of cobblers*” as TotalBlamBlam says.
Posted in Rumors, Lies, Stories They Made Up | 2 Comments »In a recent interview with Larry Ryan at the Independent, Iggy expressed interest in working with David Bowie sometime in the future. When asked by Ryan “You reunited with the founding members of the Stooges when recording Skull Ring, do you think you will ever reunite with David Bowie to make any new music?” Iggy answered, “You never know. The way etiquette in the rock world works is that the larger giant approaches the smaller giant so that would be entirely out of my curfew.” So……..hey Bowie! Hint hint nudge nudge! You know every fan will buy a new collaboration.
Posted in Circle Of Friends | 4 Comments »As Rorschach would say, hurm. I’m not exactly sure of the purpose of the article written by Dan Cairn for the Times-Online, but nevertheless he has chosen David Bowie’s Space Oddity as the Song of the Year for 1969. Despite the fact that Cairn briefly gives play to the mistaken interpretation that Space Oddity is about space exploration, he shows great insight into what the structure of the lyrics and music foreshadow for the rest of Bowie’s career. In fact, I like this article so much that I’m going to add a link to it in the Trivia section for Space Oddity.
[edit]I did a quick search on the Times Online (now that I’m not updating via my iPhone) and found that Cairns’ Song of the Year: 1969 article is part of a regular feature. But I’m leaving my Rorschach reference at the beginning of this post because I’m a nerd.
Posted in News, Site Updates | 3 Comments »Update #1: In my previous post about the upcoming War Child album “Heroes”, I reported that the song David Bowie was contributing had not been released yet. The official word from BowieNet is that the song will be….wait for it….don’t want to ruin the surprise….”Heroes“! I know, right? Knock me over with a feather. You will actually be pleasantly surprised to learn that TV On The Radio will be covering “Heroes”. They rock, everything they do is good.
Update #2: I hear tell that the War Child album will be delayed. I’m qualifying this as a rumor since there is no official word.
[edit]Since the delay has been confirmed I am removing this article from the Rumors, Lies, Stories They Made Up category.
