Rock is to Hip Hop as David Bowie is to Kanye West…Wait, What?
Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

The Crawdaddy! Magazine website featured an article in May (sorry, late on this one) comparing David Bowie and Kanye West. I don’t know a whole lot, or anything at all, about Kanye except for the fact that he loves the Caps Lock key but the article is an entertaining and thought-provoking read. In fact, I think I might have to check out 808s and Heartbreak.

Moon is Now Playing
Thursday, June 18th, 2009

The first film written and directed by David Bowie’s son Duncan Jones, Moon, is now playing in New York and Los Angeles.  It has garnered a lot of favorable critical reviews, no naturally the Webmaster and I (and all other Bowie and potential Duncan Jones fans) are eager for it to be released nationwide.  I could link you to a million favorable reviews, but instead I’m going to link you to what I think is the best one, on my favorite movie review site Pajiba.  Without further ado, the review of Moon.  Find showtimes in your area by visiting Yahoo! Movies*.

*I don’t get paid by Yahoo! or anything like that, it’s just an easy site to navigate.

Moon at the Edinburgh Film Festival
Monday, June 8th, 2009

Duncan Jones’ debut flick Moon has been garnering a lot of favorable critical reviews lately.  The latest in the line up of festivals to showcase Moon is the Edinburgh Film Festival.  The dates are as follows:

Saturday, June 20, 2009 – 9:00 pm at the Cameo 1
Tuesday, June 23, 2009 – 9:15 pm at the Cameo 1

Tickets will be available for £8.50 and £7.50.  For more information on the Edinburgh International Film Festival visit their homepage; directions to the venue are available on the Cameo section of the site.

I always want to go back to Edinburgh, but now I really want to go so I can attend the festival!

VH1 Storytellers DVD to be Released
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

On July 14, Virgin/EMI will release the David Bowie: VH1 Storytellers episode on CD/DVD.  As with any interview with Bowie, he gives a lively recounting of important points of his life and a super performance of new and classic favorites.  This is one that the Webmaster and I will definitely add to our collection.  In fact, I’ll probably visit my local independent music store a few days before and ask them to put one on order for us if they’re not planning to stock it.  And if they’re not planning to stock it, then I will convince them to do so.
