War Child Heroes Tracklisting Released
Thursday, January 15th, 2009

The latest news on the upcoming album from War Child, Heroes, is that the tracklisting has been released.  Note that there are different listing for the UK and North America, with TV On The Radio’s cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” appearing at different places on the album.  I don’t suppose that will really mean much to anyone other than Bowie Completists who will naturally want to buy both versions.

War Child Album Update!
Friday, January 9th, 2009

Not much to tell really, just another update to follow the progress of the upcoming War Child “Heroes” album that we’ve written about three times since we heard of it.  The new release day is February 16, 2009.  A tracklisting will be coming shortly.  Too bad it won’t make it out for Valentine’s Day – it would be a fitting gesture of love to buy a gift for your significant other that supports a worthy cause.

Bowie at the Keep A Child Alive Ball 2008
Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Last week David Bowie and Iman attended the annual Keep A Child Alive Black Ball.  Nothing really earth-shattering happened for me to report on, but I do want to direct you to the blurb written in The Sun.  The picture accompanying the article is really great.  Too bad The Sun is territorial about their photos, otherwise I would put it in the gallery.

[edit] I’m a lazy twit.  Here is the link to the Wire Image photo set from which the photo in The Sun came.  And here’s some more eye candy as well.  That explains the pop-up window in response to a right-click on the picture in the article.

More War Child Album Updates
Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Update #3:  It is official.  The War Child album to which David Bowie is contributing his song “Heroes” to be covered by TV On The Radio will be postponed until 2009 due to more artists showing interest.  Maybe we’ll get a double disc?  *hopes*

War Child Album Updates
Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Update #1: In my previous post about the upcoming War Child album “Heroes”, I reported that the song David Bowie was contributing had not been released yet.   The official word from BowieNet is that the song will be….wait for it….don’t want to ruin the surprise….”Heroes“!  I know, right? Knock me over with a feather.  You will actually be pleasantly surprised to learn that TV On The Radio will be covering “Heroes”.  They rock, everything they do is good.

Update #2: I hear tell that the War Child album will be delayed.  I’m qualifying this as a rumor since there is no official word.

[edit]Since the delay has been confirmed I am removing this article from the Rumors, Lies, Stories They Made Up category.

Another David Bowie Cover, But This Time For A Good Cause
Friday, September 26th, 2008

I know we bitch a lot on this site about the seemingly never-ending stream of David Bowie covers…either that or we ignore them like the latest Cat Power cover. However, the newest cover will be featured on the album Heroes being released on November 24 by the charity War Child. So I don’t even have the urge to bitch about it since it is for a good cause. The concept of the album is that music legends such as David Bowie, Paul McCartney, and The Clash will choose younger artists to cover one of their signature songs. No word yet as to what Bowie song will be included, but one of the songs will be Joy Division’s “Transmission” covered by Hot Chip. That makes me squee with delight – I love that song! I can’t wait to find out what the Bowie song will be and who he will choose to cover it.
